Make Sure You Meet the Requirements!

Ensuring that you meet the following criteria is essential when applying for either the Navajo Nation Artisan Relief Grant or the Navajo Nation Small Business Relief Grants. Applicants who were previously awarded grants are not eligible for additional funds.

Business Registration

Individual must be registered or in the process of registering under the Navajo Nation Business Source List by the Navajo Business Regulatory Department. *UPDATE 03/25/2024*
Announced by the NN DOJ, sole proprietors do not have to register with the BRD. H4N may proceed with provisional registrations for these types of businesses.

Artistic Medium or Discipline

Individual should be organized as an artist in a specific medium or discipline in art or performance.

Navajo Nation Membership

Individual must be an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation.

Commitment to Craft

Individuals must demonstrate a sustained commitment to your artistic work, career, and engagement with the public.

Financial Hardship

Be facing financial challenges due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Age Requirement

Be at least 18 years of age.

Independently Owned and Operated

Your artistic venture should be independently owned and operated.

Financial Hardship

Your business must have faced financial challenges due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Ownership

The business should be organized for profit and be at least 51% owned by a member enrolled in the Navajo Nation.

Establishment Date

Your business must have been in operation before January 1, 2020.

Revenue

The annual revenues of your business should be less than $3,000,000.

Employee Count

The business must have 500 employees or fewer as of March 1, 2020. Each individual employee, including owners, is considered one employee for this count.

Registration

Your business should be registered, certified, or in the process of being certified or re-certified under the Navajo Business Regulatory Department or Navajo Business Registration. *UPDATE 03/25/2024*

Debts

If you owe delinquent debts to the Navajo Nation for taxes, non-rental related debts, rental-related debts predating March 2020, or other related loan obligations, contact the respective offices.
